Forest Park Police Detectives along with US Postal Investigators arrested a robbery suspect who police believe committed armed robbery of a United States Postal Service Letter Carrier in the 1100 block of Beloit. The arrest involved a brief struggle and attempt to flee. Officers report that during the struggle, the suspect dropped a loaded gun. The gun was recovered by the Forest Park Police Department.
According to Chief Ken Gross, another postal carrier was robbed in the 900 block of Beloit earlier in the week. This prompted Forest Park Detectives and US Postal Investigators set up surveillance in the immediate area. The investigation is ongoing. Three additional suspects have been taken into custody, and currently being interviewed by investigators.
